Luke’s baby dedication took place last Sunday February 19th, we took him to church where the congregation prayed over him and we dedicated him to the Lord. I absolutely love the dedication ceremony and having the whole church pray over my baby is just wonderful. The prayer is mostly that he will grow up to love and serve the Lord, which of course is so very important to both Chris and I.
I was so nervous about the whole thing though, I am not too good in front of people and definitely not when I have to be on stage. At our church the tradition is that the parents, grandparents, sibling and of course the baby all have to come forward on stage for the prayer. The other part I think I dreaded the most is that I had to wear a dress (my least favorite thing to wear). But I did it and although I can’t quite fit into my pre-pregnancy dresses I found a basic black dress for less than 20$ at Nordstrom Rack and I topped it off with a shimmery sweater from H&M. The whole outfit was under 45$, it helps no to spend too much money on clothes you rarely wear.
Over all, the day went well, that is if I forget how absolutely dreadful Seth behaved. I realize that he is a little boy and it is very hard for them to sit still for 10 minutes let alone 2 hours, but I don’t think he has ever behaved as badly as he did that Sunday. He would yell out loud if we tried to get him to settle down and all he wanted to do was run around the church the whole service long. Poor Chris was having to be up and walking around with Seth at the back of the church for about 2 hours. 🙂 I think neither one of us will soon forget this experience.
We had some photos done by my brother in law’s GF and some by Deejay. I have to say that as unruly as Seth was, Luke was just wonderful, however he decided to have a big stinky poop like 5 min before we were to go on stage for the prayer and that made me laugh because Seth did the very same thing when we took him to his baby dedication.
What made the day supper special was that my sister Andreia decided to sing a song in honor of little Luke even though I know she really was dreading getting up on stage and singing. I was also very happy that all of our family members who live locally and one who lives in Florida were able to attend the dedication and then the lunch after the service. I was so blessed to be with them all and I am so thankful to the Lord for each one of them.
